Acid attacks have provoked the conscience of our society over time by staunchly flashing the mutilated faces of the victims. It is one of the nastiest inflictions on a human-being by another, which is purely done “with the intention to disfigure, maim, torture, or kill.” It leads to total debilitation, the loss of one’s livelihood, not just in terms of income, but also opportunity, and even leads to social isolation. Majority of survivors are even abandoned by their own families and face a lot of difficulty in finding employment due to their disfigured face. A deep psychological trauma is suffered by the victim when her skin is burnt, and the defacement and disabilities with which they have to live for the rest of their lives. Some of the psychological problems that the victims suffer from are insomnia, nightmares, depression, fear of facing the world, headache, tiredness, and fear of other acid attacks. Not only this, but society looks at the victim as ‘an alien’. This consequently sheds an adverse image on her empowerment, employment, and mobility.  In most of the cases, acid burns result in partial or complete disability, making the survivors incapable of finding employment for themselves. To help our survivors with their economic circumstances, we organised a ration distribution programme at our Delhi office. Brave Souls Foundation put great efforts ensuring that survivors in need from near and far will be benefitted by the programme. Ration was provided to our survivors and their families according to their needs.
