I was a hapless victim of an acid attack that was not even intended for me. Yet I live with hope and positivity for a better life.

Aruna had an extremely difficult childhood. Her father had passed away when she was a little girl. Her mother was left to fend for 4 daughters without any financial support. As luck would have it, Aruna's mother found a job at the same office, where her husband worked. Aruna's mother worked hard to support her daughters’ education. Aruna studied hard, persevered, and was soon employed. In 2006, Aruna was on her way home from work. She hailed a shared rickshaw to reach her residence. But the night had its sinister plans for Aruna. Sharing the auto with three other passengers, Aruna felt a splash on herself. Out of nowhere, a man passing by the vehicle had thrown acid on the passengers of the rickshaw. All the passengers including Aruna sustained acid burns. Aruna was admitted to the hospital and her treatment started. Arranging funds for her treatment was very difficult for Aruna's family was extremely difficult for Aruna’s family to arrange funds for her treatment. Police officials were unable to trace the culprit behind the attack. It's been 15 years since the attack, but the accused in this case is still at large. The CBI is investigating the matter. The matter is still under investigation by the CBI. Aruna was always positive and confident about herself. Though Aruna was attacked and burned with acid, she is always her positive and confident spirit for life is still alive and she strongly believes that she will get through it. She tried her best and made every possible effort to get herself a proper treatment. She started working again, looking after her family. She helped with her younger sister's education. As the result of her hard work and positive vision for life. She worked hard and got her sisters married in good families. She now takes care of her mother. After going through many ordeals in her life, she now wants to work for the betterment of other acid attack survivors like her. Aruna never got married after the attack, but she is hopeful that she will find a suitable match for herself.
